John Elvin, Industry Programme Manager for The Royal Society visited Norwich Research Park this week to tour the facilities and meet with top scientists from across the park community.

The tour included meetings with Professor Anne Osbourn and Professor Cathie Martin, both Fellows of The Royal Society based at the John Innes Centre, and Professor Martin Warren, Royal Society Industrial Fellow at the Quadram Institute. Anglia Innovation Partnership LLP (AIP LLP) CEO, Roz Bird, and COO, Nick Goodwin, hosted a lunch for top scientists from the Institutes, UEA and NNUH to meet John and discuss current scientific activity.

The group discussed the key strengths of the park including the quality of research into food and health science and the leading research activity in plant science. It was also a chance for UEA representatives to highlight the recent REF 21 framework that ranks the UEA as a top 20 university with strong departments in agri-food and veterinary science as well as environmental science.

Roz said, “Fantastic to have so many Fellows of The Royal Society and top scientists at Norwich Research Park all making a significant contribution to society with their important research and to raise awareness of this with The Royal Society.”
