Following the success of the first quiz night, in October 2022, Anglia Innovation Partnership LLP (AIP) held a second Quiz Night, on the 2nd of February, in the Centrum Restaurant, for the Norwich Research Park community.

Paul Reed, Chief Financial Officer of AIP led the evening, asking a carefully curated collection of questions covering everything from film and music to landmarks and flags.

The night had a fantastic turnout with 85 people split across the companies and partners on the park, forming roughly 20 teams. There were 8 rounds of questions with bonus questions and a joker, which can be played to double a team’s points on a single round. Around halfway through, the Genuine Dining Company served delicious curry and drinks for everyone.

Companies that participated with quiz teams included: AAH Software, AIP LLP, BBRO, Big C, Chestnut Nursery School Norfolk, Colorifix and iDNA Genetics. We also had teams from our park partners including: Quadram Institute, John Innes Centre, Earlham Institute, NBI Partnership, The Sainsbury Laboratory and UEA.

Teams competed fiercely for the chance to be crowned as winners, but the defending champions from the AIP team, now named the ‘4 amigos’ instead of 3, managed to defend their title and take the top spot once again with 132 points. 2 teams scored 131 points, so a tie-breaker ended up putting the Earlham Globetrotters (made up of staff from the Earlham Institute) in 2nd place and Universally Challenged (made up of staff from UEA) in 3rd.

The AIP team is organising regular events, on site, to help develop a sense of community at the research campus. The next event is the Norwich Research Park Enterprise Showcase: ‘Enterprise Wednesday’ taking place on the 22nd of February 2023, at the John Innes Conference Centre. The event is free to attend.

Roz Bird, CEO of AIP LLP, commented: “Norwich Research Park is a special science community. It is great to see so many people coming out to enjoy time together outside of work.

It is important that the AIP team, as the science park managers for Norwich Research Park, organises lots of different events to encourage people to meet, get to know each other, talk about what they do and look for opportunities to collaborate. I hope lots of people can join us on the 22nd February for a first Showcase event.”
