Tracy joined Anglia Innovation Partnership LLP as Estates & Facilities Manager in March 2024.

  1. What does your role involve?

I always tell people I make sure the toilets are clean and the grass is cut!  Obviously, it’s a bit more than that, it’s a very diverse role and no day is the same as another.  It’s very reactive as there is always a query to deal with or a repair to effect.  Basically, it’s everything relating to a building or location to enable the user to get on with their day job.

  1. What is your favourite thing about your role?

I think the thing I like best is helping an occupier with an issue to resolution but there are several things about my job I love.  No two days are the same, they say ‘variety is the spice of life’, it’s quite fast-paced and there is always something needing attention.  I am a ‘completer/finisher’ so the fact that so much of my day is made up of ensuring reactive tasks are completed quickly I get a sense of achievement at the end of the day.

  1. What is challenging about your role?

I must admit, there is a fine line between not knowing what the day will bring versus the need to complete a long To-Do List.  It is frustrating when you have a list of tasks to complete and something unexpected pops up and changes the course of your whole day!

  1. Where have you worked before?

I have worked in facilities for almost 30yrs.  I have worked for lots of companies in a variety of roles all within the Facilities Management/property sector.

My most recent role was to manage water and sewage treatment works across Norfolk and Essex at Anglian Water for EMCOR.

My most similar role to the one I hold at Norwich Research Park was Facilities Manager at Granta Park in South Cambridgeshire

  1. An interesting fact about yourself?

I spent Christmas in Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania.

It would have been roughly 25yrs ago, when it was popular to give aid to Romania, As leader of a group of youths doing the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award we spent a year fund raising and that summer we all went out to Romania, staying with local families.  My host family invited me back for Christmas and of the 2wk stay we spent a few days at Dracula’s Castle.  Though popular for skiing the hotel was closed, it was just a couple of families there for the festive period.  Oh how I missed my home comforts that year!  It was a humbling experience.

  1. What do you like to do outside of work?

I love to bake (what I really love is the praise I get from family, friends and colleagues who I bake for 😊) and coastal walks with my dog.  This I’ll be able to do more of when I relocate to Norfolk which, hopefully will be in time for the summer.
