We caught up with Tony Mowles, who joined Anglia Innovation Partnership as Management Accountant in November 2023, to tell us a bit more about his role.
- What does your role involve?
I prepare the monthly management accounts for AIP as well as the Innovation Centre and QIP. I also have a big role supporting the annual audit of the accounts and service charge figures.
- What is your favourite thing about your role?
Can I pick two? I like the fact that we are a small team so everyone is very interconnected with what everyone else is doing to help make the park run smoothly. Equally I like the fact that we can see so many organisations at different stages in their journey as they grow and develop from spin outs through to fully fledged businesses.
- What is challenging about your role?
I still have lots to learn whilst also keeping up with deadlines to ensure the various stakeholders are kept informed of where we are financially on a timely basis.
- Where have you worked before?
I have worked in accounts in lots of different industries including manufacturing, farming, wholesale and web based sales businesses so a pretty broad range although not a multi site, multi occupancy science park before.
- An interesting fact about yourself?
My first words to my future wife were ‘what time do you call this?’ – we have just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary so I think she has forgiven me.
- What do you like to do outside of work?
I am a keen sports fan and have coached both cricket and rugby in the past and now umpire cricket during the summer, I am a season ticket holder at King’s Lynn Town FC and also a keen (but slow) runner, helping out most weeks at my local Parkrun. I also enjoy 80s music and get to as many gigs as I can.
