The Anglia Innovation Partnership LLP (AIP) team were delighted to welcome the CBI to the Centrum building on Norwich Research Park on the 8th of November for a prestigious CBI business dinner event.

Members of the AIP LLP team attended the dinner event, joining roughly 60 guests in the Centrum building. The ground floor of centrum is a large, open, and flexible space that’s ideal for events like this.

Things went a little awry on the night, as the keynote speaker and CBI vice president Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE DL was unable to attend in person due to an emergency, however, the AIP team stepped in to set up a Microsoft teams video call and allow Lord Bilimoria to talk to the audience from his phone.

The event began with a few short speeches on stage by CBI and the sponsors. Following that the Genuine Dining Company, Centrum’s resident caterers, prepared and served a fantastic three course meal for all the guests to enjoy. To end the night Lord Karan Bilimoria joined the event on screen and was interviewed by Dame Karen Jones of the UEA.

Emily Rowling, Event Manager for the CBI, said, “Centrum was a fantastic venue and event space to host our Business Dinner.  The attention to detail/thoughtfulness that was given to the table décor and layout was superb.  The venue provided a stage, lectern, and PA system, allowing us to adapt the space to suit our event format.

Even when things didn’t go to plan on the night, Centrum staff were there to offer support and provide us with a solution. The food was delicious, and the service was great, with staff being attentive to guests needs. Throughout the planning stages the Centrum team were quick to respond to any further requests and always happy to clarify and check through the details to ensure everything was as we wanted.

I look forward to holding future events at Centrum and would recommend the venue to others.”

Richard Tunnicliffe, East of England Regional Director of CBI, said “Thanks for everything that the AIP team did to help deliver our event. The way the team dealt with the change of circumstances was nothing short of brilliant!”

The event was sponsored by the Norse Group and park partner organisation the University of East Anglia.
