The Chairman of Norfolk County Council, Councillor Barry Stone, recently visited Norwich Research Park to learn more about the campus’ important research and enterprise activity.
It is a great time for Norwich Research Park, with significant public funding, recently announced, supporting the exciting biotechnology research on site; a successful first year of the new campus-wide enterprise strategy, supporting spin out companies through access to pre-seed and seed funding, and plans are in progress for the long term growth and development of the campus.
As part of his visit, Mr Stone was given an overview of the Park by AIP CEO Roz Bird and then a tour of the Centrum Building and the Quadram Institute, a state of the art building devoted to research in gut health, food and the microbiome.
Mr Stone said, “I was very pleased to meet with the CEO of the Norwich Research Park, Roz Bird, to learn about the wide variety of research taking place at the park, much of it involving cross cutting and innovative new scientific and technology driven work, and to be given a brief tour of the latest buildings and facilities.
It was good to hear that there are detailed plans for the future development and expansion of the park.
I was singularly impressed with the work being undertaken by Colorifix in developing synthesised dye and fixative for the textile industry leading to reduce water usage by 49%.”
