On Tuesday the 5th of February South Norfolk Council held its first ever South Norfolk Business Awards at Dunston Hall, Norwich. A night to celebrate businesses old and new across South Norfolk in a multitude of categories including Digital creative, Advanced manufacturing, Visitor Economy and International business growth. We were delighted to be involved by sponsoring the Excellence in Life Sciences category which celebrated the UK registered biotech companies that have a proven impact on the industry, with a strong team and development of collaborations.
The three finalists chosen for the award were Leaf Expression Systems, Iceni Diagnostics and Cambridge Oncometrix, all of whom are occupiers on the Norwich Research Park!
Iceni Diagnostics whose carbohydrate-based therapeutics and point-of-care diagnostics for infectious diseases are at the forefront of diagnostic innovation, were announced the winners of the award adding to their previous wins at the Eastern Daily Press Business Awards and Future50.
The judges felt as though the competition was so close that they had to acknowledge Cambridge Oncometrix, a Park-based business who have developed a revolutionary non-invasive pre-biopsy diagnostic test that allows for improved prostate cancer risk assessment in primary and secondary care, with highly commended in the category.
David Parfrey, our Executive Chair, who attended the evening and presented the award for Excellence in Life Sciences on behalf of the Park said ‘How good it was to see just some of the fabulous people and their businesses that make this region the place to do business. Tremendous talent across the piece. Well done South Norfolk Council and congratulations to all the winners and finalists. So proud to see three companies based here at Norwich Research Park, winners Iceni and finalists Leaf Expression Systems and Cambridge Oncometrix.
