Park-based spin-out company MVPea recently held a taste test on Norwich Research Park for the community to try their new pea-based snack.

The company started as a project of early career researchers from the University of East Anglia and Norwich Research Park and developed further in the i-Teams programme, and subsequently established as a spin-out company from the John Innes Centre.

By using interdisciplinary scientific knowledge from plant science, nutritional health and food science, the company will create food products from pea varieties that have high nutritional values.

The taste test was held in the Centrum building over lunchtime, where many people from the community got to enjoy their lunch. The whole MVPea team got together and set up a taste testing station, to trial their different flavours ranging from tangy BBQ to zesty Wasabi!

MVPea Co-founder Tantawat Fame Nardwattanawong said, ‘Our recent pea tasting event gave everyone the chance to try our exciting debut snack, featuring a variety of flavours. A big thank you to everyone for all their feedback which we are eager to use to continue perfecting our snack!’

Roz Bird, CEO of Anglia Innovation Partnership, said, “Our campus wide enterprise strategy is encouraging lots of new spin-outs and spin-ins who want to benefit from a wide range of technology platforms and the specialist expertise of the research community. We’ve recently appointed a new enterprise network manager to help the new companies with business support, and as well as this we are always ready to be ‘guinea pigs’ and help test new products within our community!”
