Julie Broadly joined Anglia Innovation Partnership LLP as Community Hub Associate in May 2024.
- What does your role involve?
This is a ‘front facing’ role based at the Hub in Centrum within the Anglia Innovation Partnership team. I form one part of a trio that provides reception and support to all onsite and virtual tenants plus other stakeholders. We welcome all kinds of visitors, from institute employees from the surrounding buildings, private firms who have hired our meeting room facilities, members of the public using the café and sometimes VIPs who visit the Park to learn about all the interesting research and businesses that form part of our amazing Research Park.
We manage all the meeting room bookings at the Hub, deal with deliveries, signpost and troubleshoot. It’s a very busy role and every day is different!
- What is your favourite thing about your role?
The people! I love greeting and welcoming visitors, old and new, to Centrum> It is a very sociable and fun place to work. I really enjoy building a rapport with tenants and it’s wonderful to see them develop and grow their businesses in this amazing science-led environment.
- What is challenging about your role?
Sharing our workspace next to the café proves challenging when there are so many lovely smells coming from the kitchen, ready for the lunchtime rush. As a person with a sweet tooth, I do indulge in the purchase of a cake or two occasionally! The Mozzo coffee is rather exceptional here too. The smell of freshly-ground barista coffee in the morning is very comforting and sets me up for the day.
- Where have you worked before?
Before I had a career break to support my family, my last full-time role was the Marketing Director at a social enterprise company that helped entrepreneurs grow their businesses. Before that, I have held roles supporting executives predominately in the energy and logistics sectors. I have also provided marketing consultancy in the manufacturing and agricultural sector.
- An interesting fact about yourself?
I’ve recently organised a ‘pop-up’ pub night in my local village hall – it was a great success and there will be another one soon!
- What do you like to do outside of work?
I really enjoy walking in nature. I have a beautiful Hungarian Vizsla called Binky who I walk first thing in the morning and then again in the afternoon. We walk roughly 5km a day. I also practice yoga each week – Namaste!
