We use X-ray crystallography to reveal the atomic details of biological systems. This provides deep insights into molecular interactions, gene regulation, enzyme mechanism, protein function and protein evolution.

The PX platform provides facilities for growing protein crystals and collecting preliminary X-ray data in-house. We also coordinate NRP access to high intensity X-rays at the Diamond Light Source (Oxfordshire).

There are three main modes of operation:

  1. Trained users do their own experiments
  2. Platform staff perform the work (usually through collaboration)
  3. A mixture of 1 and 2 (which may include user training)
