Henry Wellcome Unit for Biological EPR

Our group is made up of chemists, biochemists and physicists who work together to solve structural biological problems. Our main focus within the group is Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy with an emphasis on distance measurements and local environments surrounding transition metals.

Our work currently involves the techniques:

  • Pulsed ELectron Double Resonance (PELDOR)
  • Electron Nuclear Double Resonance (ENDOR)
  • Electron Spin Echo Envelope Modulation (ESEEM)

Together these techniques allow for structural determination of biomacromolecules and their complexes. We pay particular interest to membrane proteins and protein-protein complexes where other spectroscopic techniques lack.
