The Human Nutrition Unit (HNU) based at the Institute of Food Research facilitates the conduct of nutrition intervention studies in a professional and friendly environment
Studies are coordinated safely and efficiently in accordance with ICH-GCP (International Conference on Harmonisation – Good Clinical Practice), the Human Tissue Act 2004, and ISO9001.
The HNU has a variable complement of registered general nurses coordinated by a full time senior research nurse. Advice on clinical procedures and data is provided by the HNU medical advisor, a local GP with experience of funding and managing research at a national level.
Researchers are fully supported by HNU staff whilst undertaking trials which includes a human studies training program tailored to the requirements of each study.
