The University of East Anglia (UEA) is a world-class university that provides top-quality academic, social and cultural facilities to more than 15,000 students on its 320-acre parkland campus.
Placed in the world top 1% in the Times Higher Education World Rankings 2015-16, the UK top 12 in the Complete University Guide 2018, the world top 100 for research excellence in the 2016 Leiden Ranking and positioned in the UK’s top five for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2015-16, UEA has a strong global reputation.
The University is also renowned for its School of Environmental Sciences, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017, and has made significant contributions to the science underpinning the understanding of climate change.
UEA makes a strong impact in Biomedical Sciences through the Schools of Medicine, Biological Sciences and Pharmacy and strong links with the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, also based on Norwich Research Park. Its Biomedical Research Centre, with state-of-the-art bio-imaging and analytical facilities, make UEA an attractive destination for academic and industry researchers.
Expertise in catalysis and materials is central to the work of the Energy Materials Laboratory – designing low-carbon energy technologies in the School of Chemistry. The Schools of Computing Sciences and Mathematics work closely with biologists across the Park and also focus on digital imaging, speech and music, data-mining and analysis.
UEA’s MSc in Energy Engineering with Environmental Management, in the Faculty of Science, was developed in collaboration with the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) with the aim of addressing the national and regional shortage of high-calibre qualified graduates.
UEA is also internationally renowned for its Creative Writing course, which has furthered the careers of many contemporary authors, Its School of International Development, a leading global centre of research and teaching excellence, and the Norman Foster-designed Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, a public art museum. The prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further & Higher Education was awarded to both the School of International Development (2009) and Creative Writing (2011).
Norwich Business School, with research strengths in carbon management, diversity, equality and ethics, delivers taught and research-based courses. UEA Enterprises Ltd acts as a bridge between industry and the academic community, managing and translating both the technology and research from within the Schools direct to commercial applications.
UEA Consultancy Ltd delivers practical, independent, business-focused solutions that offer answers to specific technical issues, leading to improvements in business systems. Working with business to develop mutual understanding and benefit leads to the creation of opportunity, employment and wealth, improvements in quality of life and increased sustainability.
The University also offers a variety of short courses, providing individuals the opportunity to develop in their careers and organisations to get the best from their staff.
