UEA has a global reputation for excellence in research and a can-do approach to collaboration with business.

World renowned for its School of Environmental Sciences, UEA has made significant contributions to the science underpinning understanding of climate change. The University has a rapidly growing impact in Biomedical Sciences through the Schools of Medicine, Biological Sciences and Pharmacy and strong links with the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, also based on the Norwich Research Park. Its Biomedical Research Centre with state of the art bio-imaging and analytical facilities make it an attractive destination for academic and industry researchers. Expertise in catalysis and materials is central to the work of the Energy Materials Laboratory – designing low-carbon energy technologies in the School of Chemistry. The Schools of Computing Sciences and Mathematics work closely with biologists across the Norwich Research Park and also focus on digital imaging, speech and music, data-mining and analysis.

Newly introduced in 2011 is the MSc in Energy Engineering with Environmental Management, within the Faculty of Science. Developed in conjunction with industry and potential employers through close collaboration with the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) it aims to address the national and regional shortage of high-calibre qualified graduates in the field of Energy Engineering.

The University of East Anglia is internationally renowned for its Creative Writing course that has furthered the careers of many contemporary authors, the School of International Development that is a leading global centre of excellence in research and teaching and the Norman Foster designed Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, a public art museum. Both the School of International Development (in 2009) and Creative Writing (in 2011) were awarded the prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further & Higher Education.
